What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic treatment involves safe, specific manipulation to free up joints of the spine or other areas of the body that are not moving properly. If the vertebrae making up the spine lose their normal range of motion, they can cause irritation to the delicate nerves that control the body’s movements, sensation and organs. You may then experience pains, aches, tingling, stiffness etc. Chiropractors are trained to locate these areas of dysfunction and correct them to promote correct functioning of your spine and other joints and enable your body to heal itself and work properly.
All patients are different and therefore a variety of techniques are required. These include spinal manipulation, dry needling, massage and mobilisation. Exercises are recommended to enhance your recovery and prevent reoccurences. Lifestyle factors are also taken into consideration and advice may be given on office ergonomics or car seat positioning, for instance.
Visits and Treatment
Your first visit will last approximately 45 mins and will include a discussion of your present and past health history together with an examination. You may be required to undress to your underwear but a gown will always be offered. This will be followed by an explanation of the findings, a diagnosis and a treatment plan. When you are happy to proceed, treatment will commence.
If you have any questions about chiropractic, we will always either call you, or invite you for a free 15 minute chat to discuss any queries you may have.
